In May 2024 we shared an exciting announcement that we rebranded from Rascal + Friends to Rascals. Founded in 2016 by a New Zealand mum of four, we’re now proudly sold in over 25 countries worldwide and loved by millions of parents. As we continue to grow, it felt natural to refresh the look and feel of the Rascals brand and shorten our name. After all, many of you already called us ‘Rascals'. We can’t wait to share more of this exciting chapter with you!

Try our size 1 nappy for your newborn, designed for babies between 3-5kgs.

We recommend choosing a nappy size by weight, and you can find this information on our nappy size guide. Some common signs that it might be time to size up are:

• The nappy starts to leak
• You’re changing their nappy more
• If the tabs no longer stretch enough to fasten comfortably over the hip
• The nappy feels tight around the waistband, leg cuffs or is starting to leave red marks on their skin
• You can’t run a finger inside the waistband when fastened

Understanding how often to change newborn nappy is key to ensuring your baby's comfort. While every baby is different, most newborns will need a nappy change 8-10 times a day. This is due to more frequent bladder movements and to ensure they are comfortable in a clean nappy to help prevent nappy rash. We use water-based inks to print our nappies and nappy pants, which are safer for your little one and the planet than traditional oil-based inks. Meaning our signature Rascals design doesn’t just look better, it is better!

At Rascals, we are committed to using quality materials and our nappies are made with ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) pulp. ECF pulp is completely safe for use in nappies and on sensitive skin. To be a suitable nappy material, ECF pulp undergoes a very safe bleaching process with chlorine dioxide, please note chlorine is not ‘added’ to the nappy at any stage. Chlorine Dioxide is a compound that is completely different to chlorine and is quickly converted to harmless salts and water.

Additionally, the ECF process has more environmental advantages than TCF (Totally Chlorine Free) pulp and is recognized as the "best available technology" by the US EPA. You can find more information about this here.

No, Rascals Premium Nappies and Nappy Pants do not contain Glyphosate. In fact, our nappy was the first in the world to have the BioChecked Non Glyphosate certification.

The crystals and gel found in your baby's nappy are super absorbent polymers (SAPs). SAPs are safe and non-toxic materials used to absorb urine and feces in nappies.

When SAPs absorb liquid, they swell and form gel beads. These beads help keep the nappy dry and comfortable for your baby, while also preventing the growth of bacteria that can cause nappy rash.

While you may occasionally see small gel beads on the nappy or on your baby, rest assured that they are non-toxic, non-irritating, and non-sensitizing. SAPs are extensively tested and researched, and are commonly used in products that come into contact with skin or food.

When it’s ready to change, use our Easy-Tear Sides to remove the pant, then roll and reseal with the blue tab before disposal.

The blue tab on the back of our nappy pants is a handy disposal tab for when you dispose of the pant. Once removed and rolled up, unstick the blue tab and wrap it around the pant to seal it in place. It makes for easy changes on-the-go and keeps messes contained!

Every child is different and while there’s no one size fits all approach to potty training, here’s a few signs that your little one might be ready to start:

• They try to remove their nappy after urinating, or when they are uncomfortable
• They communicate that they need their nappy changed
• They stay dry in their nappy for at least two hours during the day, or are dry after naps
• They are excited by the idea of wearing underwear or “big kid” pants
• They can follow simple instructions, like walking to the bathroom, sitting down and removing their clothes
